MagTreat®

Magnesium hydroxide based suspension for marine exhaust gas cleaning in scrubbers and wastewater treatment.

The main applications of MagTreat® include wastewater treatment, marine exhaust gas cleaning in scrubbers and flue gas desulfurization.

MagTreat® can replace other alkalis on the market making use of its natural buffering effect (pH 9.5) and controlling the aqueous effluent and gases that enter water courses and the atmosphere within the specified limits. Divalent magnesium cations contribute to the improvement of the coagulation properties in wastewater treatment, improving filtration, also forming a valuable by-product during flue gas desulfurization.

MagTreat® is produced in the form of a powder, a suspension and a granular product. The powders and suspension have a median (D50) particle size from 5,5 to 10 µm, the particle size of the granular product used as filtration media ranges from 0,5 to 4,0 mm.

MagTreat® FAQ

FAQ: MagTreat® Magnesium Hydroxide for Water Treatment

Learn how MagTreat® is used in wastewater treatment, marine exhaust gas scrubbers, flue gas desulfurization and pH control, and choose the right specification for your treatment system.

MagTreat® is mainly used in wastewater treatment, marine exhaust gas cleaning in scrubbers, treatment of scrubber wastewater and flue gas desulfurization.

MagTreat® can replace various alkalis on the market with pH below 9.5 and uses the natural buffering effect of magnesium hydroxide to help control pH in water and gas treatment processes.

In wastewater treatment, divalent magnesium cations help improve coagulation properties and filtration, supporting the treatment of industrial effluents before they enter water courses.

Yes. MagTreat® can be used as a reagent for marine exhaust gas cleaning systems and for wastewater treatment in scrubbers, helping support compliance with emission control requirements.

Yes. MagTreat® can be used in flue gas desulfurization, where it helps control emissions entering the atmosphere and water courses and can form valuable by-products in the process.

MagTreat® is produced as a concentrated suspension, powder and ground material. The page describes a D50 particle size of 5.5–10 µm for powders and suspension, and 0.5–4.0 mm for ground material used as filtration media.

MagTreat® offers strong price/performance compared with other alkalis, a suspension with up to 65% solids, non-corrosive and non-toxic properties, and safer handling for people and the environment.
